Another 2-day Update

I know I haven't been the most consistent lately, but I've been super swamped at work and I'm preparing for my classes next week.  I'm taking license prep classes for my insurance licensing exam.  So, I'm going to say that I'll be "incommunicado" next week starting on Monday, I might make a quick update here and there, but I need to focus on studying.  It's going to be a painful week, but I want to pass the first time so I don't have to go back.

Anyway, onto the last 2 days.  The weather has just been horrible!  The complete opposite of last week.  I miss the blue skies!  Well, pretty soon it will be Spring, and then you'll hear my wining about my allergies!  Aren't you lucky!  :)  I'm going to get a head start on the Zyrtec, even though it's really expensive, but it's better then wanting to rip your nose off from being so stuffy and itchy!

As far as food is concerned, I have been eating left overs all week.  The same as usual.  Egg and toast in the morning, left overs for lunch and dinner.  I know, boring!  I will mention that I had Amy's Vegetable Lasagna for lunch today and it was fantastic!  I love her cheese lasagna, but I didn't think I'd like the vegetable one.  I am kind of picky when it comes to green leafy vegetables (I HATE cooked spinach and swiss chard, and anything that gets slimy!  Yuck!) but the spinach doesn't bother me in this.  So I may grab a couple of those for dinners next week.  I need quick, reheat foods for dinners and something I can grab and go for lunches, so my plan for next week is making this Sweet Potato Shepherd's Pie that I saw a recipe of (it looks really good!) grab a couple of Amy's Lasagnas, and get some lunch meat, bread, and cheese for sandwiches for lunch.  I'll of course grab some on the go fruits and vegetables I can bring with me too.

This weekend's plans are going to the Bay Area (yes, I know I should stay home to study right before my classes, but I haven't been down there in a while so I'm due) and get something for my brother for his 22nd birthday.  Hmmm...  What do you get a philosophical, playwright/actor/director, musician for his birthday?  I'll figure something out!  He'll be 22 on 2/22 so I'll have to get him some gag like gift with a 2 on it!  Just Kidding Nick!

Well, that's it from me for tonight.  I'm off to finish packing!

Weight Watchers Weign-In

For my weigh-in days, I'm just going to mention the meeting and how I did.

I lost 4.4 pounds!  Yay!  The meeting was about restocking your refrigerator, what to keep in, what to take out.  Not very eventful since we are pretty good about what is in our refrigerator.  So, that's my short post for today!

Yet Another Single Valentine's Day For Me!

Happy Valentine's Day!  Not my favorite holiday, probably because I've been single for all 27 years of my life, but it wasn't too bad of a day.  When I got home from work, I saw this on the dining room table.

They are from my aunt.  It was so nice of her!  I went and got her favorite See's candy, Scotchmallows and I couldn't find ANY cards that weren't for a mutual other, so I gave her a blank card with an adorable kitten on the front!

That's all from me for this post.  I know, quick and unfood related, but there wasn't anything to the day that was worth posting!

Car Searching on Sunday

Sunday was a little more adventuresome than Saturday.  My aunt and I met our cousin at a Starbucks near a couple of cars we were going to look at.  I must say, I hate Starbucks, sorry to all you Starbucks lovers out there, I'm just not a fan.  I grew up with a grandmother who was a die hard fan of Peet's Coffee since the very first one opened in Berkeley, then my mom became a dedicated fan (as well as her sister, not the one I live with), and now I am.  I'm not a big coffee drinker although I love their tea.  My favorite tea is their Black Currant Tea.  SOOOOOO good! Anyway, there aren't many around in Sacramento, so we met at Starbucks.  Plus I had a gift card (WHICH I FORGOT TO BRING WITH ME!)  But my cousin ended up treating me to a small iced tea, it was passion flavored (not a clue, so don't ask, tasted like cranberry...) I added a splenda and it wasn't bad.  My cousin hates Starbucks too.  He'll order a grande coffee in a venti cup and add a ton of half and half and sugar to it.  Anyway, I found what would have been the PERFECT 03' Prius, but there was no mention if the battery has been changed recently, and they had no clue (for the record, that's the first question most people ask on hybrids, just sayin') so we figured, either they didn't care to find out, or they were beating around the bush so we looked at some other cars in the area, but no luck.  I'm sure I'll find something eventually.  It's been a great learning experience for me I must say!
Okay, enough of my rant!

We didn't get home until 2, so I had left over Chicken and rice for lunch. I added a little splenda to the chicken and it helped immensely! I may make something similar next time but adding orange juice instead of chicken broth or at least a combination of the two.  I got these mini semisweet chocolate bars at TJ's (we stopped in there for a second because it was in the same shopping center as the Starbucks we met at) and they are only 2 pp for 1 bar or 5 pp for 3!  They are really good, and I'm totally okay with one.
I continued to work on my closet, and took a nap (not a nap taker but I felt okay when I woke up) did more work on my closet and was left with the little things that you have no idea what to do with.  As I was working on that, I watched a couple of movies.  I watched Sweet Home Alabama, which I haven't watched in quite a while.  Then I put on Daniel's Daughter, which is a Hallmark movie I really liked.  I'm a sucker for anything Irish related.  I forgot the Grammy's were on and I wanted to see the opening because it was a tribute to Aretha Franklin and I'm a big Christina Aguilera fan, so I  wanted to see her performance, I liked the other singers too.  It was a great performance, but the end was annoying to me, just 5 divas trying to out do each other.  It was kind of funny.  Well, that's the end of my "adventurous" weekend!

Lazy Saturday

I didn't do much yesterday.  I attempted to go through and get rid of some of the stuff in my closet, and now it looks like a bomb blew up in here!  Well, hopefully I will get through more today.  My morning yesterday started out with a fried egg and toast.  I didn't take any pictures of food.  It's nothing new!  Anyway, as I said, it was an uneventful day.  I really wanted to go for a walk, but with all of the crap in my room, I was trying to get that finished.
I had 2 pork buns for lunch.  I couldn't wait to try those from TJ's and they were really good!  I had craving feelings even though I knew I was hungry so I did have a couple of servings of social snackers throughout the day.  I still had points though for dinner.
At 5:30 my aunt and I went to mass, then we went over to get her WW late ice cream bars at Wal-Mart then off to get dinner at Chipotle!  The only reason we went into Wal-Mart was because it was closer and that way the ice cream didn't melt before we got food and went home.  I usually get a vegetarian burrito bowl with pinto beans, fresh salsa, cheese, lettuce, and a side of sour cream that I mix into the bowl.  SOOOOO good and its totally worth all of the 12 pp!  So that's my boring lazy Saturday.

2-Day Update

Sorry I'm posting this late.  I forgot to add my pictures last night so I had to wait until I got home tonight to get them posted.  So this will be an extra long 2-day post.  I didn't have the  greatest day at work yesterday.  Not food wise, just work.  It's over now and I'm hoping next week is a better week.

So for Thursday's Recap- I had the same as Wednesday, an egg sandwich with mini sausages and cuties.  (I'm so adventurous aren't I?!) I didn't bother taking pictures because why would you want to see the same thing over again?

I had the left over breakfast sandwich from Panera from the day before for lunch.  I added a tablespoon of TJ's Jalapeno Pub cheese and it added a little kick to the sandwich.  I brought lettuce for a salad with me but I wasn't feeling it.  As I said, not the best day for me.

Here's the adventurous part of my day.  I ended up staying an hour overtime to catch up on some things at work and when I got home, I made this quick cook bean soup.  It was a mix I bought at Nugget and I used their recipe as a guideline but I ended up doing my own thing.  I added one very large onion diced fine, 2 diced carrots, 2 diced celery stalks (I ate the rest of it, hey it was 0 points and I was starving!), garlic (I am Italian you know!), and a can of tomato sauce (instead of pushing tomatoes through a sieve like the directions said, who does that?!) and probably twice the amount of chicken broth they called for (2 boxes).  It took a lot longer than they said for it to cook but it tasted pretty good.  I don't think I like the black eyed peas in it though.  They took way longer to cook than the rest of the smaller beans/lentils/grains so they stayed a little crunchy in the soup.  Luckily there aren't many of them, but if they were out of the mix, I'd like it a WHOLE lot better!  It's 4 pp for 10 servings, and since I was too tired to measure, I'm guessing that's more than a cup because it was a huge pot and that pot usually makes 12 cups with less in it.  So I'm counting 4 pp but having more of it.  I'm sure it'll be filling.  I didn't end up eating that for dinner though because I was hungry before then, so I reheated the other 1/2 of those killer sweet potato gnocchi and picked on those while I was cooking.  After that, I crashed.  I was too tired, but hey, for the first time in I don't know how long, I slept through the night.

Okay after that throw-up of words, onto Friday.  Work was much better.  I think I got all of my frustrations out the day before so I feel better. Breakfast was similar to the 2 days before except I got this sourdough whole wheat bread from TJ's.  I toasted a slice and put 1 tablespoon of the pub cheese on it then the egg on top of that.  It was SOOO good!  I am a sourdough nut.  This was dry, but good for toast which I have bread for anyway.

I went for another walk around 10:30.  It was nice to get some fresh air.  Then had my morning snack of 2 cheddar cheese squares and TJ's social snackers.   I have some small trays that used to belong to my grandmother.  Each one looks different, and I just thought they were really neat.  They definitely remind me of my childhood!
I had a bowl of the bean soup for lunch and I'm happy to say that the black eyed peas softened up overnight.  I also had a 1/2 pineapple sausage and salad.  I added my mandarins to the salad to make it more than just lettuce.   I just freeking love my new plate!  You'll begin to learn how much of a Disney geek I am!

When I got home I saw blooms on our plum tree.  Oh joy, allergy season is starting early! Yay for me!  I must say though, it's very pretty at this time of the year.
I immediately started cooking 2 new recipes from Weight Watchers.  Orange Chinese Chicken, 5 pp, and easy fried rice, 4pp.  I also roasted a head of cauliflower I bought and I ate most of the whole head.  The beauty of having free vegetables!
It doesn't look pretty, I should stop taking my pictures with my iPod.  Maybe some of them depending on the lighting, but I have a much nicer camera I can take pictures with!  Anyway, the fried rice was good, the cauliflower was fantastic, the chicken was okay.  Not nearly as good as I thought it'd be.

After taking a long time to clean up my mess, I watched my nexflix movie, Despicable Me.  WAY WAY WAY better than I thought it'd be.  It was really cute!  Definitely going to get when it's on sale.  Well that's it from me for this post.

Wednesday's Adventures

This morning started off with an egg sandwich (a fried egg and french roll) 5pp, some mini chicken apple sausages 3pp, and 3 cuties.  I have to say it brightened up my morning a little to see the cute little stickers they are putting on the cuties now.

I finally got to break in my new plates.  I love that they are sectioned off into 3 spaces.  Perfect for portion control!  I went into the break room to reheat my breakfast, and that's when I realized that today was our Employee Appreciation Breakfast...  I totally forgot about it which is fine, not a huge deal.  I normally grab an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich for lunch anyway, so I did grab one which I will have for lunch tomorrow.

I was stuck in 2 hours worth of meetings that morning so I decided that I HAD to get out and get some fresh air.  I couldn't pass down the beautiful blue sky either.  Who could? I've been stuck in fog for what seems like a month!

I was feeling fine until noon and I realized I needed something in my stomach.  I would rather eat my lunch at 12:30 at the earliest so I had some pretzels to tide me over.

Lunch consisted of 1/2 pineapple sausage on 1/2 hamburger roll, shredded cabbage salad, and 3 more cuties. I couldn't help myself with the sausage smiley face.  When I microwaved it, it curled up like that!

After work, I went to Trader Joe's by my appointment with a friend from work and spent the rest of my allowance on groceries there!  I'm sure I have food to last me until payday.  I got home around 7 and I was so tired and hungry that I just decided to heat up TJ's sweet potato gnocci.  It's in a butter and sage sauce and 1/2 of it (it says there are 3 servings, and that 1 serving is a cup, but I measured it and there are 2 cups in there) is only 6 pp.  I drained out as much of the butter as I could too so I'm sure it was less but I didn't want to guess at that.  I'd rather aim high.  They are SO good!  They just melt in your mouth!

I didn't do much after that, just took a shower and went online to try and finish editing this blog.  I know I don't usually have this many pictures, so if this is something you like or want me do to less of, please put a comment on my blog.  I really want to hear feed back about what you think.

Before I close out I have a question for you all.  What do you want to hear more of from me?  Do you have any specific topics that you would like me to post about? Do you have an I Heart... Subject you'd like me to share with everyone?

Weight Watchers Weigh-In

I bit the bullet and weighed in today.  Am I happy with the results? No.  But I knew it wasn't going to be pretty.  I at least did it so now I will have more of an incentive to stay on track so I can have a better weigh-in next week.  I'm not ready to say how much I weigh or how much I've gained so I won't go into details.

I have a couple of recipes that I am planning on making for the week.  A lentil and bean soup, mini-pot sticker soup (kind of like a won ton soup but with mini pot stickers from TJ's), Orange Chinese Chicken, and fried rice.  I'm planning on making most of that on Thursday, maybe the soup when I get home from my bi-weekly appointment in Roseville.  All are new to me so I'll let you know how they turn out.

So my goals this week are, working out 4 times on Wii Active, writing out everything I eat, E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G., and getting all of my Christmas stuff put away (finally!)

Okay that's it from me for now!

Upcoming Plan & Superbowl Recap

Happy Monday.  Blech!  In the words of Garfield, "I HATE MONDAYS!" Granted some are worse than others, but still!  I had a really busy weekend.  I spend Saturday looking at cars and only test drove 1.  Sunday we spent the whole day at my cousins house in El Dorado Hills watching the Superbowl.  We were rooting for the Packers because we are all big 49er fans and we didn't want the Steelers winning another superbowl!  :)  At the same time, I didn't really care who won.  We had a nice time laughing with the family.  We didn't get home until after 9!

So I am yet again back to restarting.  Food plans for the week are still up in the air, but I do know that I want to make this bean/lentil soup from a mix I got.  It has a mixture of tiny beans and lentils in it.  I'm not going by the directions they gave though because 1, it's in grams and litres, and while I can convert and measure, I don't want to, so I'm going to do my own thing which is something I think I'm pretty good at.  At least most of the time anyway.  I'm just using the directions as a guide.  I'm going to saute an onion, garlic, carrots, maybe some celery but I don't know how that would turn out, add some tomato sauce and chicken broth, and I may throw in a ham hock for flavor and some protein, or maybe just straight ham.  I'm going to look at some recipes for ideas.  I also want to make this recipe I saw on Danica's Daily for a potsticker soup.  It has mini potstickers in it and if I can find these at my Trader Joe's on Wednesday, I'll make this soup, or at least my version of it since I do like putting my own spin on recipes.

I am so excited I got some new plates and bowls for work so I don't have to waste the plates in the kitchen at work.  All I need to do now is go to Marshalls or Ross and look for some individual utensils.  One of the plates I got has Mickey on it.  I saw some Disney ones in Target and knew I just HAD to get one!  I was going to take a picture of it when I had my breakfast but I wolfed that down so I'll have to try to take a picture of it with lunch.  We were supposed to have a meeting today but it got cancelled but the food for the meeting is still coming so my friend in our department and I are going to grab some food and go sit at a table outside for lunch.  The weather has been great so why waste it!

I haven't planned much for other recipes but I'm going to look through my recipe books tonight when I get home and decide something so I can get my grocery shopping done on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Ummm.... Hi! I'm Still Here!!!!

Yea, oops!  I didn't mean to wait so long between posts!  I've been super busy both at work an elsewhere so I just couldn't find the time.  I know I could have found the time, but I will blame procrastination on that!

So since January 20th... I can't even remember a ton of that!  Isn't that sad?!  I remember I was going to the Bay Area that weekend to help my mom and Nick finish moving from my grandmother's house.  I stayed through Tuesday and, as per my usual, got a big fat case of the "F its" but what can you do?  I am not going to dwell on the past 2 weeks. Life wise, I didn't do much other than that.  But, even though I wasn't on track food wise, I've been pretty good with the exercise.  I do need to make up yesterday's workout since I don't get home until around 7, and exercise wires me up so I didn't think that's a smart thing to do.  But today is a day off on my schedule on EA Active so I'll make it up after work.

Today I forgot my breakfast and lunch at home so I had to find things at work to eat.  I had some of my cheese squares and tomato soup for breakfast, popcorn for snack, then at last minute I went out to Chevy's for lunch with a couple of friends from work.  So, right there, I probably ate all my points for the day...  It's a brand new week so I haven't used any of my points yet.  I am also going to a local Italian Restaurant with some neighbors for dinner so I have to figure out what I've used and if there's any chance that I do have points left.  I have been having a couple of urges today to forget this week and just do what I want, but I am not going to do that.  I'm going to try as hard as I can to not do that!  I think this blog may help because I don't want to post when I'm not doing well. So it gives me an incentive to do better.

My obstacles this week are, my mom coming up, Superbowl party, and just the weekend in general.  So I hope to survive all of that.  I just need to plan and stay motivated.

I'm going to leave it at that for now.
